Identity DESIGN
I was fortunate to lead the team that gave Foothill College its first re-branding in 47 years. The team initially designed a shield shape with a nod to the unique Pacific architecture. They also brought a strong collegiate feel by customizing our font with squared serifs. I converted the shield to an acorn by adding the stem and simplified the overall design with a modern flat aesthetic. The old logo featured an oak tree and the acorn pays tribute to that history with a new message. An education at Foothill plants the seeds of change: a new beginning with a mighty future ahead.

Logo, Letterhead, Business Card
One of the first marketing tasks for a small business is to build their identity trifecta: a logo, business card, and letterhead. This particular client wanted something rustic and non-linear. I used a close-up photograph of a ridged bowl she made and washed it in warm browns and creamy ceramic tones. I ensured the square logo was not a perfect square since pottery's irregularity is part of its charm.
Many professional classical performers also teach privately, essentially running a small business. ClarinetStudio.org wanted a modern identity to interact with current students and attract new ones. It had to be professional but clever. The clarinet is rendered in patched segments to promote the artistry in music, with the phrase "Practice + Performance" attached as a mantra for students.
